Ilmars Millers

Artistic Director

Ilmars Millers (born 18.11.1982) has studied choral conducting in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and holds a bachelor’s degree for choral conducting (with Prof. Toomas Kapten). He is a Member of European Latvian Association (ELA) Artistic Committee and he is performing as the chief conductor at the European Latvian Cultural festivals.

Ilmars Millers has been working with the Latvian-Finnish choir “Ziemelmeita” (Finland) since 2013 as the main conductor and the artistic director of the choir.

From 2009-2014 and then again from year 2017 he is the main conductor of Chamber Choir of Tallinn University of Technology, based in Estonia and since 2015 the conductor of Sigulda mixed choir “Atvars” (Latvia). Before that, Ilmars Millers has worked as the conductor of Latvian Union choir “Ziemeļu Balsis” (2012-2013), based in Estonia, chamber choir “Motus” of the concert hall “Ave Sol” (2003-2008) and the conductor of the Latvian Academy of Culture choir “Sōla” (2005-2007). In addition, he was also the founder and artistic director of the vocal group “Ambermusic”, based in Latvia (2006-2012).

With the choirs and the vocal group, he has participated in various contests and festivals across Europe. In December 2011 Ilmars Millers received 3rd place in the 5th International Choir Conducting Competition “Towards Polyphony” (Wroclaw, Poland), organized by the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music. In November 2012 he received the scholarship of Gustav Ernesaks Fund.
